Glen Larson’s Encounter with Tragedy: Moments That Shook the Legend!
Posted by: admin // Category: UncategorizedGlen Larson is one of those men, who despite not being as popular as the characters they create, are the real masterminds behind the epic works of art. Holding the honor of having created shows like Battlestar Galactica, Knight Rider, and ‘The Fall Guy’, Larson, who has just turned 75, is a force to reckon with.

The man has a reputation for being an influential personality, with some staunch ideals and perceptions. But just like everyone else, he has had his shares of slumps and scars, which to him, are as important as the achievements to his credit.
In an archival interview, Larson opened his heart about two particular incidents, which made for some of the most emotionally riveting moments of his career. These moments marked the tragic deaths of two of the leading men in his shows, on two separate occasions.
The first of them happened in 1984, when Jon-Erik Hexum accidentally killed himself on the sets of ‘Cover Up’, by aiming a prop gun to his forehead, being unaware that pulling the trigger could be deadly. As he looks back at the incident, Larson somberly reminisces the last moment he had shared with Hexum, when the actor had come over to their house for dinner, and had brought along a gift for his teenage daughter, who had a crush on him.
Even though the incident was shocking for the creator, he says that they had no option but to continue with the show’s production, because of all the people who were dependent on the show for their bread and butter.
As for the second incident that spurred Larson’s life into mayhem, that happened on New Year’s Eve in 1971, when Peter Duel, the leading man on the hit ABC series, ‘Alias Smith and Jones’, shot himself to death.
Both these incidents had a significant impact on Larson and his approach towards his work, and he still looks back at them as the most disturbing moments of his career. If you wish to watch the magic that this legend unfailingly unleashed on the screen, you can tune in to Knight Rider online to do so.
